| Коли минуло два роки, фараону снилося: ось, він стоїть біля ріки; | And it came to pass after two full years that Pharao had a dream. He thought he stood upon the bank of the river. |

| і ось, вийшли з ріки сім корів, гарних на вигляд і повних тілом, і паслися в очереті; | And lo, there came up as it were out of the river seven cows, fair in appearance, and choice of flesh, and they fed on the sedge. |
|

|
| але ось, після них вийшли з ріки сім корів інших, худих на вигляд і охлялих тілом, і стали поряд з тими коровами, на березі ріки; | And other seven cows came up after these out of the river, ill-favoured and lean-fleshed, and fed by the other cows on the bank of the river. |
|

|
| і з’їли корови худі на вигляд і охлялі тілом сім корів гарних на вигляд і повних. І прокинувся фараон, | And the seven ill-favoured and lean cows devoured the seven well-favoured and choice-fleshed cows; and Pharao awoke. |
|

| і заснув знову, і снилося йому іншого разу: ось, на одному стеблі піднялося сім колосків гладеньких і гарних; | And he dreamed again. And, behold, seven ears came up on one stalk, choice and good. |
|

|
| але ось, після них виросло сім колосків виснажених і висушених східним вітром; | And, behold, seven ears thin and blasted with the wind, grew up after them. |
|

|
| і пожерли худі колоски сім колосків гладеньких і повних. І прокинувся фараон і зрозумів, що це сон. | And the seven thin ears and blasted with the wind devoured the seven choice and full ears; and Pharao awoke, and it was a dream. |
|

|
| Уранці засмутився дух його, і послав він, і покликав усіх волхвів Єгипту і всіх мудреців його, і розповів їм фараон сон свій; але не було нікого, хто витлумачив би його фараону. | And it was morning, and his soul was troubled; and he sent and called all the interpreters of Egypt, and all her wise men; and Pharao related to them his dream, and there was no one to interpret it to Pharao. |

| І став говорити головний виночерпій фараонові і сказав: гріхи мої згадую я нині; | And the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharao, saying, I this day remember my fault: |

| фараон прогнівався на рабів своїх і віддав мене і головного хлібодара під варту в дім начальника охоронців; | Pharao was angry with his servants, and put us in prison in the house of the captain of the guard, both me and the chief baker. |
|

11
|
| і снився нам сон в одну ніч, мені і йому, кожному снився сон особливого значення; | And we had a dream both in one night, I and he; we saw, each according to his dream. |
|

|
| там саме був з нами молодий єврей, раб начальника охоронців; ми розповіли йому сни наші, і він витлумачив нам кожному відповідно до його сновидіння; | And there was there with us a young man, a Hebrew servant of the captain of the guard; and we related to him our dreams, and he interpreted them to us. |

| і як він витлумачив нам, так і збулося: я повернений на місце моє, а той повішений. | And it came to pass, as he interpreted them to us, so also it happened, both that I was restored to my office, and that he was hanged. |
|

|
| І послав фараон і покликав Йосифа. І поспішно вивели його з в’язниці. Він постригся і перемінив одяг свій і прийшов до фараона. | And Pharao having sent, called Joseph; and they brought him out from the prison, and shaved him, and changed his dress, and he came to Pharao. |
|

|
| Фараон сказав Йосифові: мені снився сон, і нема нікого, хто витлумачив би його, а про тебе я чув, що ти вмієш тлумачити сни. | And Pharao said to Joseph, I have seen a vision, and there is no one to interpret it; but I have heard say concerning thee that thou didst hear dreams and interpret them. |

| І відповів Йосиф фараону, говорячи: це не моє; Бог дасть відповідь на благо фараонові. | And Joseph answered Pharao and said, Without God an answer of safety shall not be given to Pharao. |

| І сказав фараон Йосифові: мені снилося: ось, стою я на березі ріки; | And Pharao spoke to Joseph, saying, In my dream methought I stood by the bank of the river; |
|

18
|
| і ось, вийшли з ріки сім корів повних тілом і гарних на вигляд і паслися в очереті; | and there came up as it were out of the river, seven cows well-favoured and choice-fleshed, and they fed on the sedge. |
|

|
| але ось, після них ішли сім корів інших, худих, дуже поганих на вигляд і охлялих тілом: я не бачив по всій землі Єгипетській таких худих, як вони; | And behold seven other cows came up after them out of the river, evil and ill-favoured and lean-fleshed, such that I never saw worse in all the land of Egypt. |

| бо з’їли охлялі й худі корови попередніх сім корів повних; | And the seven ill-favoured and thin cows ate up the seven first good and choice cows. |
|

|
| і ввійшли повні в утробу їх, але не помітно було, що вони ввійшли в утробу їх: вони були так само худими на вигляд, як і спочатку. І я прокинувся. | And they went into their bellies; and it was not perceptible that they had gone into their bellies, and their appearance was ill-favoured, as also at the beginning; and after I awoke I slept, |

| Потім снилося мені: ось, на одному стеблі піднялися сім колосків повних і гарних; | and saw again in my sleep, and as it were seven ears came up on one stem, full and good. |

|
| але ось, після них виросло сім колосків тонких, виснажених і висушених східним вітром; | And other seven ears, thin and blasted with the wind, sprang up close to them. |
|
24
|

|
| і пожерли худі колоски сім колосків гарних. Я розповів це волхвам, але ніхто не пояснив мені. | And the seven thin and blasted ears devoured the seven fine and full ears: so I spoke to the interpreters, and there was no one to explain it to me. |
|

| І сказав Йосиф фараонові: сон фараонів один: що́ Бог зробить, те́ Він звістив фараонові. | And Joseph said to Pharao, The dream of Pharao is one; whatever God does, he has shewn to Pharao. |
|

|
| Сім корів гарних, це сім років; і сім колосків добрих, це сім років: сон один; | The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years; the dream of Pharao is one. |
|

|
| і сім корів охлялих і худих, що вийшли після тих, це сім років, також і сім колосків виснажених і висушених східним вітром, це сім років голоду. | And the seven thin kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven thin and blasted ears are seven years; there shall be seven years of famine. |
|

|
| Ось чому сказав я фараонові: що́ Бог зробить, те́ Він показав фараонові. | And as for the word which I have told Pharao, whatsoever God intends to do, he has shewn to Pharao: |
|

|
| Ось, настає сім років великого достатку в усій землі Єгипетській; | behold, for seven years there is coming great plenty in all the land of Egypt. |
|
30
|
30
|
| після них настануть сім років голоду, і забудеться весь той достаток у землі Єгипетській, і виснажить голод землю, | But there shall come seven years of famine after these, and they shall forget the plenty that shall be in all Egypt, and the famine shall consume the land. |
|

|
31
|
| і непримітним буде колишній достаток на землі, через голод, що прийде, тому що він буде дуже тяжким. | And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of the famine that shall be after this, for it shall be very grievous. |
|

|
32
|
| А що сон повторився фараону двічі, це значить, що це істинне слово Боже, і що незабаром Бог виконає це. | And concerning the repetition of the dream to Pharao twice, it is because the saying which is from God shall be true, and God will hasten to accomplish it. |
|

|
| І нині нехай знайде фараон чоловіка розумного і мудрого і нехай поставить його над землею Єгипетською. | Now then, look out a wise and prudent man, and set him over the land of Egypt. |
|

|
| Нехай накаже фараон поставити над землею наглядачів збирати за сім років достатку п’яту частину [усього врожаю] землі Єгипетської; | And let Pharao make and appoint local governors over the land; and let them take up a fifth part of all the produce of the land of Egypt for the seven years of the plenty. |
|

|
| нехай вони беруть усякий хліб цих гарних років, що настають, і зберуть у містах хліб під відання фараона для їжі, і нехай бережуть; | And let them gather all the food of these seven good years that are coming, and let the corn be gathered under the hand of Pharao; let food be kept in the cities. |
|

|
| і буде ця їжа в запас для землі на сім років голоду, які будуть у землі Єгипетській, щоб земля не загинула від голоду. | And the stored food shall be for the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; and the land shall not be utterly destroyed by the famine. |
|

|
| Це сподобалося фараонові й усім слугам його. | And the word was pleasing in the sight of Pharao, and in the sight of all his servants. |
|

38
|
| І сказав фараон слугам своїм: чи знайдемо ми таку, як він, людину, у якій був би Дух Божий? | And Pharao said to all his servants, Shall we find such a man as this, who has the Spirit of God in him? |
|

|
39
|
| І сказав фараон Йосифу: оскільки Бог відкрив тобі все це, то немає настільки розумного і мудрого, як ти; | And Pharao said to Joseph, Since God has shewed thee all these things, there is not a wiser or more prudent man than thou. |
|

|
| ти будеш над домом моїм, і твого слова буде дотримуватися весь народ мій; тільки престолом я буду більшим за тебе. | Thou shalt be over my house, and all my people shall be obedient to thy word; only in the throne will I excel thee. |
|

|
| І сказав фараон Йосифові: ось, я поставляю тебе над усією землею Єгипетською. | And Pharao said to Joseph, Behold, I set thee this day over all the land of Egypt. |
|

|
| І зняв фараон перстень свій з руки своєї і надів його на руку Йосифа; вдяг його у висонний одяг, поклав золотий ланцюг на шию його; | And Pharao took his ring off his hand, and put it on the hand of Joseph, and put on him a robe of fine linen, and put a necklace of gold about his neck. |

| повелів везти його на другій із своїх колісниць і проголошувати перед ним: схиляйтеся! І поставив його над усією землею Єгипетською. | And he mounted him on the second of his chariots, and a herald made proclamation before him; and he set him over all the land of Egypt. |

| І сказав фараон Йосифу: я фараон; без тебе ніхто не ворухне ні рукою своєю, ні ногою своєю по всій землі Єгипетській. | And Pharao said to Joseph, I am Pharao; without thee no one shall lift up his hand on all the land of Egypt. |
|

|
| І нарік фараон Йосифові ім’я: Цафнаф-панеах, і дав йому за дружину Асенефу, дочку Потифера, жерця Іліопольського. І пішов Йосиф по землі Єгипетській. | And Pharao called the name of Joseph, Psonthomphanech; and he gave him Aseneth, the daughter of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, to wife. |

| Йосифові було тридцять років від народження, коли він став перед лице фараона, царя Єгипетського. І вийшов Йосиф від лиця фараонового і пройшов по всій землі Єгипетській. | And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharao, king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharao, and went through all the land of Egypt. |

| Земля ж у сім років достатку принесла з одного зерна по жмені. | And the land produced, in the seven years of plenty, whole handfuls of corn. |
|

|
| І зібрав він усякий хліб семи років, які були [родючі] в землі Єгипетській, і поклав хліб у містах; у кожному місті поклав хліб полів, що оточують його. | And he gathered all the food of the seven years, in which was the plenty in the land of Egypt; and he laid up the food in the cities; the food of the fields of a city round about it he laid up in it. |

| І зібрав Йосиф хліба дуже багато, як піску морського, так що перестав і рахувати, тому що не стало рахунку. | And Joseph gathered very much corn as the sand of the sea, until it could not be numbered, for there was no number of it. |

| До настання років голоду, у Йосифа народилися два сини, яких народила йому Асенефа, дочка Потифера, жерця Іліопольського. | And to Joseph were born two sons, before the seven years of famine came, which Aseneth, the daughter of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him. |

| І нарік Йосиф ім’я первісткові: Манассія, тому що [говорив він] Бог дав мені забути усі нещастя мої і весь дім батька мого. | And Joseph called the name of the first-born, Manasse; for God, said he, has made me forget all my toils, and all my father's house. |
|

|
| А другому нарік ім’я: Єфрем, тому що [говорив він] Бог зробив мене плідним у землі страждання мого. | And he called the name of the second, Ephraim; for God, said he, has increased me in the land of my humiliation. |
|

|
| І минули сім років достатку, що був у землі Єгипетській, | And the seven years of plenty passed away, which were in the land of Egypt. |
|

|
| і настали сім років голоду, як сказав Йосиф. І був голод по всіх землях, а в усій землі Єгипетській був хліб. | And the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph said; and there was a famine in all the land; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. |
|

| Але коли і вся земля Єгипетська почала терпіти голод, то народ почав волати до фараона про хліб. І сказав фараон усім єгиптянам: підіть до Йосифа і робіть, що він вам скаже. | And all the land of Egypt was hungry; and the people cried to Pharao for bread. And Pharao said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph, and do whatsoever he shall tell you. |

| І був голод по всій землі; і відчинив Йосиф усі житниці, і став продавати хліб єгиптянам. Голод же посилювався в землі Єгипетській. | And the famine was on the face of all the earth; and Joseph opened all the granaries, and sold to all the Egyptians. |
|

|
| І з усіх країн приходили в Єгипет купувати хліб у Йосифа, тому що голод посилився по всій землі. | And all countries came to Egypt to buy of Joseph, for the famine prevailed in all the earth. |
