Хто любить настанови, той любить знання; а хто ненавидить викриття, той невіглас.

He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.
|

Добрий здобуває благовоління від Господа; а людину підступну Він засудить.
|
He that has found favour with the Lord is made better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
|

|
|
Не утвердить себе людина беззаконням; корінь же праведників нерухомий.
|
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
|
|

|
|
Доброчесна дружина — вінець для чоловіка свого; а ганебна — як гниль у кістках його.
|
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
|
|

|
|
Помисли праведних — правда, а задуми нечестивих — підступність.
|
The thoughts of the righteous are true judgments; but ungodly men devise deceits.
|
|

|
Промови нечестивих — засідка для пролиття крови, вуста ж праведних спасають їх.
|
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
|

|
Торкнеться нечестивих нещастя — і немає їх, а дім праведних стоїть.
|
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
|

|
Хвалять людину за мірою розуму її, а розбещений серцем буде у презирстві.
|
The mouth of an understanding man is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
|

|
Краще простий, але який працює на себе, ніж той, хто видає себе за знатного, але має потребу у хлібі.
|
Better is a man in dishonour serving himself, than one honouring himself and wanting bread.
|

|
Праведний турбується і про життя худоби своєї, серце ж нечестивих жорстоке.
|
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
|

|
Хто обробляє землю свою, той буде насичуватися хлібом; а хто йде слідом за тими, що марно гають час, той недоумкуватий. [Хто знаходить задоволення у гаянні часу за вином, той у своєму домі залишить безславність.]
|
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonour in his own strong holds.

|
Нечестивий бажає уловити в сіті зла; але корінь праведних твердий.
|
The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.
|
|

|
Нечестивий уловлюється гріхами вуст своїх; але праведник вийде з біди. [Той, хто дивиться лагідно, помилуваний буде, а той, хто зустрічається у воротах, заважає іншим.]
|
For the sin of his lips a sinner falls into snares; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.

|
Від плоду вуст своїх людина насичується добром, і нагорода людині — за ділами рук її.
|
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.

|
Шлях нерозумного прямий у його очах; але хто слухає поради, той мудрий.
|
The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.
|

|
У нерозумного відразу ж виявиться гнів його, а розсудливий ховає образу.
|
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
|

|
Хто говорить те, що знає, той говорить правду; а у свідка неправдивого — омана.
|
A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
|
|

|
Якийсь пустослів уражає наче мечем, а язик мудрих — лікує.
|
Some wound as they speak, like swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
|

|
Вуста правдиві вічно перебувають, а неправдивий язик — тільки на мить.
|
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
|
|

|
Підступність — у серці зловмисників, радість — у миротворців.
|
There is deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.

|
Не станеться з праведником ніякого зла, нечестиві ж будуть сповнені злом.
|
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.
|

|
Мерзота перед Господом — вуста неправдиві, а ті, що говорять істину, благоугодні Йому.
|
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
|

|
Чоловік розсудливий приховує знання, а серце нерозумних висловлює глупоту.
|
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
|
|

|
|
Рука старанних буде панувати, а лінива буде під даниною.
|
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
|
|

|
|
Туга на серці людини придушує її, а добре слово звеселяє його.
|
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
|
|

|
|
Праведник указує ближньому своєму путь, а путь нечестивих вводить їх в оману.
|
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
|
|

|
|
Лінивий не смажить своєї дичини; а майно людини старанної дорогоцінне.
|
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
|
|

|

|
|
На путі правди — життя, і на стежці її немає смерти.
|
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries lead to death.
