| Краще шматок сухого хліба, і з ним мир, ніж дім, повний заколотої худоби, з розбратом. | Better is a morsel with pleasure in peace, than a house full of many good things and unjust sacrifices, with strife. |

| Розумний раб панує над безпутним сином і між братами розділить спадщину. | A wise servant shall have rule over foolish masters, and shall divide portions among brethren. |
|

|
| Плавильня — для срібла, і горно — для золота, а серця випробовує Господь. | As silver and gold are tried in a furnace, so are choice hearts with the Lord. |
|

|
| Злодій дослухається до вуст беззаконних, неправдомовець слухається язика пагубного. | A bad man hearkens to the tongue of transgressors: but a righteous man attends not to false lips. |
|

|
| Хто знущається з убогого, той хулить Творця його; хто радіє нещастю, той не залишиться непокараним [а милосердий помилуваний буде]. | He that laughs at the poor provokes him that made him; and he that rejoices at the destruction of another shall not be held guiltless: but he that has compassion shall find mercy. |

| Вінець старих — сини синів, і слава дітей — батьки їхні. [У вірного цілий світ багатства, а в невірного — ні гроша.] | Children's children are the crown of old men; and their fathers are the glory of children. |

| Непристойна для нерозумного поважна мова, тим більше знатному — вуста неправдиві. | Faithful lips will not suit a fool; nor lying lips a just man. |
|

| Подарунок — дорогоцінний камінь в очах того, хто володіє ним: куди не звернеться він, матиме успіх. | Instruction is to them that use it a gracious reward: and whithersoever it may turn, it shall prosper. |
|

| Хто прикриває провину, той шукає любови; а хто знову нагадує про неї, той віддаляє друга. | He that conceals injuries seeks love; but he that hates to hide them separates friends and kindred. |
|

|
| На розумного сильніше діє догана, ніж на дурня сто ударів. | A threat breaks down the heart of a wise man; but a fool, though scourged, understands not. |
|

|
| Підбурювач шукає тільки зла; тому жорстокий ангел буде посланий проти нього. | Every bad man stirs up strifes: but the Lord will send out against him an unmerciful messenger. |

| Краще зустріти людині ведмедицю, позбавлену дітей, ніж дурня з його глупотою. | Care may befall a man of understanding; but fools will meditate evils. |
|

|
| Хто за добро відплачує злом, від дому того не відійде зло. | Whoso rewards evil for good, evil shall not be removed from his house. |
|

|
| Початок сварки — як прорив води; залиш сварку раніше, ніж розгориться вона. | Rightful rule gives power to words; but sedition and strife precede poverty. |
|

|
| Хто виправдовує нечестивого і хто звинувачує праведного — обоє мерзота перед Господом. | He that pronounces the unjust just, and the just unjust, is unclean and abominable with God. |
|

|
| До чого скарб у руках нерозумного? Для придбання мудрости у нього немає розуму. [Хто високим робить свій дім, той шукає, як розбитися; а хто ухиляється від навчання, впаде в біди.] | Why has the fool wealth? for a senseless man will not be able to purchase wisdom. |

| Друг любить повсякчас і, як брат, з’явиться під час нещастя. | Have thou a friend for every time, and let brethren be useful in distress; for on this account are they born. |
|

| Чоловік бідний на розум дає руку і ручається за ближнього свого. | A foolish man applauds and rejoices over himself, as he also that becomes surety would make himself responsible for his own friends. |
|

| Хто любить сварки, той любить гріх, і хто високо піднімає ворота свої, той шукає падіння. | A lover of sin rejoices in strifes; |
|

|
| Підступне серце не знайде добра, і лукавий язик потрапить у біду. | and the hard-hearted man comes not in for good. A man of a changeful tongue will fall into mischiefs; |

| Породив хто дурня, — собі на лихо, і батько нерозумного не порадіє. | and the heart of a fool is grief to its possessor. A father rejoices not over an uninstructed son; but a wise son gladdens his mother. |
|

| Веселе серце доброчинне, як лікування, а сумовитий дух сушить кістки. | A glad heart promotes health; but the bones of a sorrowful man dry up. |
|

| Нечестивий бере подарунок з пазухи, щоб викривити путі правосуддя. | The ways of a man who unjustly receives gifts in his bosom do not prosper; and an ungodly man perverts the ways of righteousness. |
|

| Мудрість — перед лицем розумного, а очі дурня — на краю землі. | The countenance of a wise man is sensible; but the eyes of a fool go to the ends of the earth. |
|

| Нерозумний син — досада батькові своєму і засмучення для матері своєї. | A foolish son is a cause of anger to his father, and grief to her that bore him. |
|

|
| Недобре й звинувачувати правого, і бити вельмож за правду. | It is not right to punish a righteous man, nor is it holy to plot against righteous princes. |
|

| Розумний стриманий у словах своїх, і розсудливий холоднокровний. | He that forbears to utter a hard word is discreet, and a patient man is wise. |
|

|
| І нерозумний, коли мовчить, може здатися мудрим, і хто закриває вуста свої — розсудливим. | Wisdom shall be imputed to a fool who asks after wisdom: and he who holds his peace shall seem to be sensible. |
