| Мудрий син слухає настанови батька, а буйний не слухає викриття. | A wise son is obedient to his father: but a disobedient son will be destroyed. |

| Від плоду вуст своїх людина споживе добро, душа ж законопорушників — зло. | A good man shall eat of the fruits of righteousness: but the lives of transgressors shall perish before their time. |
|

|
| Хто зберігає вуста свої, той береже душу свою; а хто широко розкриває свій рот, тому біда. | He that keeps his own mouth keeps his own life: but he that is hasty with his lips shall bring terror upon himself. |
|

|
| Душа лінивого бажає, але марно; а душа старанних насититься. | Every slothful man desires, but the hands of the active are diligent. |
|

|
| Праведник ненавидить неправдиве слово, а нечестивий осоромлює і нечестить себе. | A righteous man hates an unjust word: but an ungodly man is ashamed, and will have no confidence. |
|

| Правда зберігає непорочного в путі, а нечестя губить грішника. | |
|

|
| Хтось видає себе за багатого, а в нього нічого нема; інший видає себе за бідного, а в нього багатства багато. | There are some who, having nothing, enrich themselves: and there are some who bring themselves down in the midst of much wealth. |
|

|
| Багатством своїм людина викуповує життя своє, а бідний і погрози не чує. | A man's own wealth is the ransom of his life: but the poor endures not threatening. |
|

|
| Світло праведних весело горить, світильник же нечестивих угасає. [Душі підступні блукають у гріхах, а праведники співчувають і милують.] | The righteous always have light: but the light of the ungodly is quenched. |
|

|
| Від зарозумілости виникає розбрат, а в тих, що радяться, — мудрість. | A bad man does evil with insolence: but they that are judges of themselves are wise. |
|

|
| Багатство від суєтности виснажується, а той, хто збирає працею, примножує його. | Wealth gotten hastily with iniquity is diminished: but he that gathers for himself with godliness shall be increased. The righteous is merciful, and lends. |
|

| Надія, яка довго не збувається, мучить серце, а бажання, що сповнилося, — як древо життя. | Better is he that begins to help heartily, than he that promises and leads another to hope: for a good desire is a tree of life. |
|

| Хто нехтує слово, той заподіює шкоду собі; а хто боїться заповіді, тому воздається. | He that slights a matter shall be slighted of it: but he that fears the commandment has health of soul. |
|

|
| [У сина лукавого нічого немає доброго, а в розумного раба справи благоуспішні, і путь його пряма.] | The law of the wise is a fountain of life: but the man void of understanding shall die by a snare. |
|

| Навчання мудрого — джерело життя, що віддаляє від сітей смерти. | Sound discretion gives favour, and to know the law is the part of a sound understanding: but the ways of scorners tend to destruction. |
|

| Добрий розум дає приємність, путь же беззаконних жорстока. | Every prudent man acts with knowledge: but the fool displays his own mischief. |
|

| Усякий розважливий діє зі знанням, а нерозумний виставляє напоказ глупство. | A rash king shall fall into mischief: but a wise messenger shall deliver him. |
|

|
| Поганий посол потрапляє в біду, а вірний посланник — спасіння. | Instruction removes poverty and disgrace: but he that attends to reproofs shall be honoured. |
|

|
| Убогість і посоромлення тому, хто відкидає вчення; а хто дотримується настанов, буде в честі. | The desires of the godly gladden the soul, but the works of the ungodly are far from knowledge. |
|

| Бажання, яке сповнилося, — приємне для душі; але тяжко для глупих ухилятися від зла. | If thou walkest with wise men thou shalt be wise: but he that walks with fools shall be known. |

|
| Той, хто спілкується з мудрими, стане мудрішим, а хто дружить з нерозумними, розбеститься. | Evil shall pursue sinners; but good shall overtake the righteous. |
|

|
| Грішників переслідує зло, а праведникам відплачується добром. | A good man shall inherit children's children; and the wealth of ungodly men is laid up for the just. |
|

|
| Добрий залишає спадщину й онукам, а багатство грішника зберігається для праведного. | The righteous shall spend many years in wealth: but the unrighteous shall perish suddenly. |
|

|
| Багато хліба буває і на ниві бідних; але дехто гине від безладдя. | He that spares the rod hates his son: but he that loves, carefully chastens him. |
|

|
| Хто шкодує різки своєї, той ненавидить сина; а хто любить, той з дитинства карає його. | A just man eats and satisfies his soul: but the souls of the ungodly are in want. |
|

|
|
| Праведник їсть до ситости, а утроба беззаконних терпить нестачу. |
