| Краще бідний, який ходить у своїй непорочності, ніж [багатий] із неправдивими вустами, і притім нерозумний. | |

| Недобре душі без знання, і хто поспішний ногами, той оступиться. | |
|

|
| Глупота людини спотворює путь її, а серце її обурюється на Господа. | The folly of a man spoils his ways: and he blames God in his heart. |
|

|
| Багатство додає багато друзів, а бідного залишає і друг його. | Wealth acquires many friends; but the poor is deserted even of the friend he has. |
|

|
| Лжесвідок не залишиться непокараним, і хто говорить неправду, не врятується. | A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that accuses unjustly shall not escape. |
|

|
| Багато хто запобігає перед знатними, і всякий — друг людині, яка дає подарунки. | Many court the favour of kings; but every bad man becomes a reproach to another man. |
|

|
| Бідного ненавидять усі брати його, тим більше друзі його віддаляються від нього: женеться за ними, щоб поговорити, але і цього немає. | Every one who hates his poor brother shall also be far from friendship. Good understanding will draw near to them that know it, and a sensible man will find it. He that does much harm perfects mischief; and he that uses provoking words shall not escape. |

| Хто здобуває розум, той любить душу свою; хто спостерігає розважливість, той знаходить благо. | He that procures wisdom loves himself; and he that keeps wisdom shall find good. |
|

|
| Лжесвідок не залишиться непокараним, і хто говорить неправду, загине. | A false witness shall not be unpunished; and whosoever shall kindle mischief shall perish by it. |
|

|
| Непристойна нерозумному пишність, тим більше рабові панування над князями. | Delight does not suit a fool, nor is it seemly if a servant should begin to rule with haughtiness. |
|

|
| Розсудливість робить людину повільною на гнів, і слава для неї — бути поблажливою до провин. | A merciful man is long-suffering; and his triumph overtakes transgressors. |
|

|
| Гнів царя — як ревіння лева, а благовоління його — як роса на траву. | The threatening of a king is like the roaring of a lion; but as dew on the grass, so is his favour. |
|

|
| Нерозумний син — руйнування для батька свого, і сварлива дружина — стічна труба. | A foolish son is a disgrace to his father: vows paid out of the hire of a harlot are not pure. |
|

|
| Дім і майно — спадщина від батьків, а розумна дружина — від Господа. | Fathers divide house and substance to their children: but a wife is suited to a man by the Lord. |
|

|
| Лінощі занурюють у сонливість, і недбайлива душа буде терпіти голод. | Cowardice possesses the effeminate man; and the soul of the sluggard shall hunger. |
|

|
| Хто зберігає заповідь, той зберігає душу свою, а хто не дбає про путі свої, — загине. | He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall perish. |
|

|
| Хто благодіє бідному, дає в борг Господу, і Він воздасть йому за благодіяння його. | He that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord; and he will recompense to him according to his gift. |
|

|
| Карай сина свого, доки є надія, і не обурюйся криком його. | Chasten thy son, for so he shall be hopeful; and be not exalted in thy soul to haughtiness. |
|

|
| Гнівливий нехай терпить покарання, тому що, коли пощадиш його, доведеться тобі ще більше карати його. | A malicious man shall be severely punished, and if he commit injury, he shall also lose his life. |
|

|
| Слухайся поради і приймай викривання, щоб стати тобі згодом мудрим. | Hear, son, the instruction of thy father, that thou mayest be wise at thy latter end. |
|

|
| Багато задумів у серці людини, але відбудеться тільки визначене Господом. | There are many thoughts in a man's heart; but the counsel of the Lord abides for ever. |
|

|
| Радість людині — добродійність її, і бідна людина краще, ніж неправдива. | Mercy is a fruit to a man: and a poor man is better than a rich liar. |
|

|
| Страх Господній веде до життя, і хто має його, завжди буде задоволений, і зло не осягне його. | The fear of the Lord is life to a man: and he shall lodge without fear in places where knowledge is not seen. |
|

|
| Лінивий опускає руку свою у чашу, і не хоче донести її до рота свого. | He that unjustly hides his hands in his bosom, will not even bring them up to his mouth. |
|

|
| Якщо ти покараєш кощунника, то і простий зробиться розсудливим; і якщо викриєш розумного, то він зрозуміє наставляння. | When a pestilent character is scourged, a simple man is made wiser: and if thou reprove a wise man, he will understand discretion. |
|

| Хто розоряє батька і виганяє матір, — син соромітний і безчесний. | He that dishonours his father, and drives away his mother, shall be disgraced and shall be exposed to reproach. |
|

|
| Перестань, сину мій, слухати напоумлення про відхилення від висловів розуму. | A son who ceases to attend to the instruction of a father will cherish evil designs. |
|

|
| Лукавий свідок знущається із суду, і вуста беззаконних ковтають неправду. | He that becomes surety for a foolish child will despise the ordinance: and the mouth of ungodly men shall drink down judgments. |
|

|
| Готові суди для кощунників, і побиття — на тіло нерозумних. | Scourges are preparing for the intemperate, and punishments likewise for fools. |
