І продовжував Елиуй і сказав: чи
|
And Elius resumed and said,

вважаєш ти справедливим, що сказав: я правіший за Бога?
|
What is this that thou thinkest to be according to right? who art thou that thou hast said, I am righteous before the Lord?
|
|

|
|
Ти сказав: яка користь мені? і який прибуток я мав би перед тим, як коли б я і грішив?
|
I will answer thee, and thy three friends.
|
|

|
|
Я відповім тобі і твоїм друзям з тобою:
|
Look up to the sky and see; and consider the clouds, how high they are above thee.
|
|

|
|
поглянь на небо і дивися; поглянь на хмари, вони вище тебе.
|
If thou hast sinned, what wilt thou do? and if too thou hast transgressed much, what canst thou perform?
|

|
|
Якщо ти грішиш, що робиш ти Йому? і якщо злочини твої збільшуються, що заподіюєш ти Йому?
|
And suppose thou art righteous, what wilt thou give him? or what shall he receive of thy hand?
|
|

|
|
Якщо ти праведний, що даєш Йому? або що одержує Він від руки твоєї?
|
Thy ungodliness may affect a man who is like to thee; or thy righteousness a son of man.
|
|

|
|
Нечестя твоє відноситься до людини, як ти, і праведність твоя до сина людського.
|
They that are oppressed of a multitude will be ready to cry out; they will call for help because of the arm of many.
|
|

|
|
Від безлічі гнобителів стогнуть гноблені, і від руки сильних волають.
|
But none said, Where is God that made me, who appoints the night-watches;
|
|

|
|
Але ніхто не говорить: де Бог, Творець мій, Який дає пісні вночі,
|
who makes me to differ from the four-footed beasts of the earth, and from the birds of the sky?
|
|

|
|
Який навчає нас більше, ніж худобу земну, і напоумлює нас більше, ніж птахів небесних?
|
There they shall cry, and none shall hearken, even because of the insolence of wicked men.
|
|

|
|
Там вони волають, і Він не відповідає їм, з причини гордости злих людей.
|
For the Lord desires not to look on error, for he is the Almighty One.
|
|

|
|
Але неправда, що Бог не чує і Вседержитель не дивиться на це.
|
He beholds them that perform lawless deeds, and he will save me: and do thou plead before him, if thou canst praise him, as it is possible even now.
|
|

|
|
Хоча ти сказав, що ти не бачиш Його, але суд перед Ним, і — чекай на нього.
|
For he is not now regarding his wrath, nor has he noticed severely any trespass.
|
|

|
16
|
|
Але нині, тому що гнів Його не відвідав його і він не пізнав його у всій суворості,
|
Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.
|
|
16
|
|
|
Іов і відкрив легковажно вуста свої і нерозважливо марнує слова.
