| Тепер звеличимо славних мужів і батьків нашого роду: | Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers that begat us. |

| багато славного Господь являв через них, велич Свою від віку; | The Lord hath wrought great glory by them through his great power from the beginning. |
|

|
| це були володарі у царствах своїх і мужі, славетні силою; вони давали розумні поради, звіщали у пророцтвах; | Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, men renowned for their power, giving counsel by their understanding, and declaring prophecies: |

|
| вони були керівниками народу у нарадах і у книжному навчанні. | leaders of the people by their counsels, and by their knowledge of learning meet for the people, wise and eloquent in their instruction: |

|
| Мудрі слова були у повчанні їх; вони винайшли музичні лади і написали гімни; | such as found out musical tunes, and recited verses in writing: |

|
| люди багаті, обдаровані силою, вони мирно жили в оселях своїх. | rich men furnished with ability, living peaceably in their habitations: |

|
| Усі вони були шановані між племенами своїми і у дні свої були славою. | all these were honoured in their generations, and were the glory of their times. |
|

|
| Є між ними такі, які залишили після себе ім’я для звіщення їх похвали, — і є такі, про яких не залишилося пам’яті, які зникли, ніби не існували, і зробилися, ніби не було їх, і діти їхні після них. | There be of them that have left a name behind them, that their praises might be reported. |

| Але то були мужі милости, праведні справи яких не забуваються; | And some there be, which have no memorial; who are perished, as though they had never been; and are become as though they had never been born; and their children after them. |

|
| у сімені їх перебуває добра спадщина; нащадки їх — у завітах; | But these were merciful men, whose righteousness hath not been forgotten. |

|
| сім’я їх буде твердим, і діти їхні — заради них; | With their seed shall continually remain a good inheritance, and their children are within the covenant. |
|

|
| сім’я їх перебуватиме до віку, і слава їх не знищиться; | Their seed standeth fast, and their children for their sakes. |
|

|

|
| тіла їхні поховані у мирі, й імена їхні живуть у роди; | Their seed shall remain for ever, and their glory shall not be blotted out. |
|

|

|
| народи будуть розповідати про їх мудрість, а Церква буде звіщати їх хвалу. | Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore. |
|

|
| Енох догодив Господу і був узятий на небо, — образ покаяння для усіх родів. | The people will tell of their wisdom, and the congregation will shew forth their praise. |

|
| Ной виявився досконалим, праведним; під час гніву він був умилостивленням; | Enoch pleased the Lord, and was translated, being an example of repentance to all generations. |

|
| тому зробився залишком на землі, коли був потоп; | Noah was found perfect and righteous; in the time of wrath he was taken in exchange for the world; therefore was he left as a remnant unto the earth, when the flood came. |
|

|
| з ним укладений був вічний завіт, що ніяка плоть не знищиться більше потопом. | An everlasting covenant was made with him, that all flesh shall perish no more by the flood. |

|
| Авраам — великий батько безлічі народів, і не було подібного до нього у славі; | Abraham was a great father of many people: in glory was there none like unto him; |
|

|
20
|
| він зберіг закон Всевишнього і був у завіті з Ним, | who kept the law of the most High, and was in covenant with him: he established the covenant in his flesh; and when he was proved, he was found faithful. |
|

|
21
|
| і на своїй плоті утвердив завіт й у випробуванні виявився вірним; | Therefore he assured him by an oath, that he would bless the nations in his seed, and that he would multiply him as the dust of the earth, and exalt his seed as the stars, and cause them to inherit from sea to sea, and from the river unto the utmost part of the land. |

| тому Господь з клятвою обіцяв йому, що у сімені його благословляться усі народи; | With Isaac did he establish likewise, for Abraham his father's sake, the blessing of all men, and the covenant, |
|

|
| обіцяв примножити його як порох землі, і піднести сім’я його як зірки, і дати їм спадщину від моря до моря і від ріки до краю землі. | and made it rest upon the head of Jacob. He acknowledged him in his blessing, and gave him an heritage, and divided his portions; among the twelve tribes did he part them. |

| Й Ісааку заради Авраама, батька його, Він також підтвердив благословення усіх людей і завіт; | |

|
|
| і воно ж спочило на голові Якова: | |

|
| Він ущедрив його Своїми благословеннями і дав йому у спадщину землю, і відокремив ділянки її і розділив між дванадцятьма колінами. | |

| І вивів від нього мужа милости, який придбав любов у очах усякої плоті, |
