| Сину мій! не відмовляй у їжі убогому і не стомлюй чеканням очей нужденних; | My son, defraud not the poor of his living, and make not the needy eyes to wait long. |

| не засмути душі голодної і не завдавай жалю людині в її убогості; | Make not a hungry soul sorrowful; neither provoke a man in his distress. |

|
| не бентеж серця уже засмученого і не відкладай подавати нужденному; | Add not more trouble to a heart that is vexed; and defer not to give to him that is in need. |
|

|
| не відмовляй пригнобленому, що благає про допомогу, і не відвертай лиця твого від убогого; | Reject not the supplication of the afflicted; neither turn away thy face from a poor man. |
|

|
| не відвертай очей від того, хто благає, і не давай людині приводу проклинати тебе; | Turn not away thine eye from the needy, and give him none occasion to curse thee: |

|
| бо коли він у тузі душі своєї буде проклинати тебе, Той, Хто створив його, почує моління його. | for if he curse thee in the bitterness of his soul, his prayer shall be heard of him that made him. |

|
| У зібранні намагайся бути приємним і перед вищим нахиляй твою голову; | Get thyself the love of the congregation, and bow thy head to a great man. |
|

|
| прихиляй вухо твоє до убогого і відповідай йому ласкаво, з лагідністю; | Let it not grieve thee to bow down thine ear to the poor, and give him a friendly answer with meekness. |
|

|
| рятуй скривдженого від руки того, хто ображає, і не будь легкодухим, коли судиш; | Deliver him that suffereth wrong from the hand of the oppressor; and be not fainthearted when thou sittest in judgment. |

|
| сиротам будь як батько і матері їх — замість чоловіка: | Be as a father unto the fatherless, and instead of a husband unto their mother: so shalt thou be as the son of the most High, and he shall love thee more than thy mother doth. |

|
| і будеш як син Вишнього, і Він полюбить тебе більше, ніж мати твоя. | Wisdom exalteth her children, and layeth hold of them that seek her. |
|

|
| Премудрість підносить синів своїх і підтримує тих, хто шукає її: | He that loveth her loveth life; and they that seek to her early shall be filled with joy. |
|

|
| хто любить її, любить життя, і ті, що шукають її з раннього ранку, сповняться радости: | He that holdeth her fast shall inherit glory; and wheresoever she entereth, the Lord will bless. |
|

|

|
| хто володіє нею, той успадкує славу, і, куди б не пішов, Господь благословить його; | They that serve her shall minister to the Holy One: and them that love her the Lord doth love. |
|

|

|
| ті, що служать їй, служать Святому, і тих, хто любить її, любить Господь; | Whoso giveth ear unto her shall judge the nations: and he that attendeth unto her shall dwell securely. |
|

|
| хто слухняний їй, той буде судити народи, і хто прислуховується до неї, буде жити надійно; | If a man commit himself unto her, he shall inherit her; and his generation shall hold her in possession. |
|

|
| хто ввіриться їй, той успадкує її, і нащадки його будуть володіти нею: | For at the first she will walk with him by crooked ways, and bring fear and dread upon him, and torment him with her discipline, until she may trust his soul, and try him by her laws. |
|

|
| бо спочатку вона піде з ним путями звивистими, наведе на нього страх і боязнь | Then will she return the straight way unto him, and comfort him, and shew him her secrets. |
|

|
| і буде мучити його своїм водінням, доки не упевниться у душі його і не випробує його своїми уставами; | But if he go wrong, she will forsake him, and give him over to his own ruin. |
|

|
20
|
| але потім вона вийде до нього на прямій путі й обрадує його | Observe the opportunity, and beware of evil; and be not ashamed when it concerneth thy soul. |
|

|
| і відкриє йому таємниці свої. | For there is a shame that bringeth sin; and there is a shame which is glory and grace. |
|

|
| Якщо він зійде з путі, вона залишає його і віддає його у руки падіння його. | Accept no person against thy soul, and let not the reverence of any man cause thee to fall. |
|

|
| Спостерігай час і бережи себе від зла — | And refrain not to speak, when there is occasion to do good, and hide not thy wisdom in her beauty. |
|

|
| і не посоромишся за душу твою: | For by speech wisdom shall be known: and learning by the word of the tongue. |
|

|
25
|
| є сором, що веде до гріха, і є сором — слава і благодать. | In no wise speak against the truth; but be abashed of the error of thine ignorance. |
|

|
| Не будь упереджений проти душі твоєї і не соромся на шкоду тобі. | Be not ashamed to confess thy sins; and force not the course of the river. |
|

|
| Не утримуй слова, коли воно може допомогти: | Make not thyself an underling to a foolish man; neither accept the person of the mighty. |
|

|
| бо у слові пізнається мудрість, і у мові язика — знання. | Strive for the truth unto death, and the Lord shall fight for thee. |
|

|
| Не супереч істині й соромся твого неуцтва. | Be not hasty in thy tongue, and in thy deeds slack and remiss. |
|
30
|
30
|
| Не соромся сповідувати гріхи твої і не стримуй плину ріки. | Be not as a lion in thy house, nor frantic among thy servants. |
|
31
|
31
|
| Не підкоряйся людині нерозумній, і не дивися на сильного. | Let not thine hand be stretched out to receive, and shut when thou shouldest repay. |
|
32
|
|
| Подвизайся за істину до смерти, і Господь Бог поборе за тебе. | |
|
33
|
|
| Не будь швидким на язик твій, і лінивим та недбалим у ділах твоїх. | |
|
34
|
|
| Не будь, як лев, у домі твоєму і підозрілим до домашніх твоїх. | |
|
35
|
|
| Нехай не буде рука твоя розпростертою до прийняття і стисненою при віддачі. |
