| Не будь ревнивий до дружини серця твого, і не подавай їй поганого уроку проти тебе самого. | Be not jealous over the wife of thy bosom, and teach her not an evil lesson against thyself. |

| Не віддавай дружині душі твоєї, щоб вона не повстала проти влади твоєї. | Give not thy soul unto a woman to set her foot upon thy substance. |

| Не виходь назустріч розпусній жінці, щоб як-небудь не потрапити у тенета її. | Meet not with an harlot, lest thou fall into her snares. |

| Не залишайся довго зі співачкою, щоб не зачаруватися тобі мистецтвом її. | Use not much the company of a woman that is a singer, lest thou be taken with her attempts. |

| Не задивляйся на дівчину, щоб не спокуситися привабливістю її. | Gaze not on a maid, that thou fall not by those things that are precious in her. |

| Не віддавай душі твоєї блудницям, щоб не погубити спадщини твоєї. | Give not thy soul unto harlots, that thou lose not thine inheritance. |

| Не дивися на всі боки на вулицях міста і не броди по порожніх місцях його. | Look not round about thee in the streets of the city, neither wander thou in the solitary places thereof. |

| Відвертай око твоє від жінки благовидої і не задивляйся на чужу красу: | Turn away thine eye from a beautiful woman, and look not upon another's beauty; for many have been deceived by the beauty of a woman; for herewith love is kindled as a fire. |

| багато хто збився зі шляху через красу жіночу; від неї, як вогонь, загоряється любов. | Sit not at all with another man's wife, nor sit down with her in thine arms, and spend not thy money with her at the wine; lest thine heart incline unto her, and so through thy desire thou fall into destruction. |

| Зовсім не сиди з жінкою заміжньою і не залишайся з нею на бенкеті за вином, | Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him: a new friend is as new wine; when it is old, thou shalt drink it with pleasure. |

| щоб не схилилася до неї душа твоя, і щоб ти не зламався духом на погибель. | Envy not the glory of a sinner: for thou knowest not what shall be his end. |

| Не залишай старого друга, бо новий не може зрівнятися з ним; | Delight not in the thing that the ungodly have pleasure in; but remember they shall not go unpunished unto their grave. |

| друг новий — те саме, що вино нове: коли воно зробиться старим, із задоволенням будеш пити його. | Keep thee far from the man that hath power to kill: so shalt thou not doubt the fear of death: and if thou come unto him, make no fault, lest he take away thy life presently: remember that thou goest in the midst of snares, and that thou walkest upon the battlements of the city. |

| Не заздри славі грішника, бо не знаєш, який буде кінець його. | As near as thou canst, guess at thy neighbour, and consult with the wise. |

| Не схвалюй того, що схвалюють нечестиві: пам’ятай, що вони до самого пекла не виправляться. | Let thy talk be with the wise, and all thy communication in the law of the most High. |

| Тримай себе далі від чоловіка, який має владу умертвляти, і ти не будеш бентежитися страхом смерти; | And let just men eat and drink with thee; and let thy glorying be in the fear of the Lord. |

| а якщо зближуєшся з ним, не помилися, щоб він не позбавив тебе життя: | For the hand of the artificer the work shall be commended; and the wise ruler of the people for his speech. |

| знай, що ти посеред сітей ідеш і по зубцях міських стін проходиш. | A man of an ill tongue is dangerous in his city; and he that is rash in his talk shall be hated. |

| За силою твоєю узнавай ближніх і радься з мудрими. | |

| Розмірковування твоє нехай буде з розумними, і всяка бесіда твоя — у законі Вишнього. | |

| Нехай вечеряють з тобою мужі праведні, і слава твоя нехай буде у страху Господньому. | |

| Вироби хваляться за рукою художника, а правитель народу вважається мудрим за словами його. | |

|
| Бояться в місті зухвалого на язик, і ненавидять необачного у словах. |
