| Сину мій! якщо ти згрішив, не примножуй більше гріхів і за попередні молися. | My son, hast thou sinned? do so no more, but ask pardon for thy former sins. |

| Біжи від гріха, як від лиця змія; бо, якщо підійдеш до нього, він ужалить тебе. | Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest too near it, it will bite thee: the teeth thereof are as the teeth of a lion, slaying the souls of men. |

| Зуби його — зуби лев’ячі, які умертвляють душі людей. | All iniquity is as a two edged sword, the wounds whereof cannot be healed. |

| Усяке беззаконня як двогострий меч: рані від нього немає зцілення. | To terrify and do wrong will waste riches: thus the house of proud men shall be made desolate. |

| Залякування і насильства спустошать багатство: так спорожніє і дім зарозумілого. | A prayer out of a poor man's mouth reacheth to the ears of God, and his judgment cometh speedily. |

| Моління з уст убогого — тільки до вух його; але суд над ним поспішно наближається. | He that hateth reproof is in the way of sinners: but he that feareth the Lord will repent from his heart. |

| Той, хто ненавидить викриття, йде слідами грішника, а хто боїться Господа, навернеться серцем. | An eloquent man is known far and near; but a man of understanding knoweth when he slippeth. |

| Здалеку впізнається сильний на язик; але розумний бачить, де той спотикається. | He that buildeth his house with other men's money is like one that gathereth himself stones for the tomb of his burial. |

| Хто будує дім свій на чужі гроші — те саме, що той, хто збирає каміння для своєї могили. | The congregation of the wicked is like tow wrapped together: and the end of them is a flame of fire to destroy them. |

| Збіговисько беззаконних — купа паклі, і кінець їх — полум’я вогняне. | The way of sinners is made plain with stones, but at the end thereof is the pit of hell. |

| Шлях грішників вимощений камінням, але на кінці його — безодня пекла. | He that keepeth the law of the Lord getteth the understanding thereof: and the perfection of the fear of the Lord is wisdom. |

| Хто дотримується закону, той володіє своїми думками, | He that is not wise will not be taught: but there is a wisdom which multiplieth bitterness. |

| і здійснення страху Господнього — мудрість. | The knowledge of a wise man shall abound like a flood: and his counsel is like a pure fountain of life. |

| Не навчиться той, хто нездатен; | The inner parts of a fool are like a broken vessel, and he will hold no knowledge as long as he liveth. |
|

|
| але є здатність, що множить гіркоту. | If a skilful man hear a wise word, he will commend it, and add unto it: but when one of no understanding heareth it, it displeaseth him, and he casteth it behind his back. |

| Знання мудрого збільшується подібно до повені, і порада його, — як джерело життя. | The talking of a fool is like a burden in the way: but grace shall be found in the lips of the wise. |

| Серце дурного подібне до розбитої посудини, і не утримає у собі ніякого знання. | They enquire at the mouth of the wise man in the congregation, and they shall ponder his words in their heart. |

| Якщо мудре слово почує розумний, то він похвалить його і прикладе до себе. Почув його легковажний, і воно не сподобалося йому, і він кинув його за себе. | As a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool: and the knowledge of the unwise is as talk without sense. |

| Мова дурного — як тягар на шляху, в устах же розумного знаходять приємність. | Doctrine unto fools is as fetters on the feet, and like manacles on the right hand. |

| Промов розумного будуть шукати у зібранні, і над словами його будуть розмірковувати у серці. | A fool lifteth up his voice with laughter; but a wise man doth scarce smile a little. |

| Як зруйнований дім, так мудрість дурному, і знання нерозумного — безглузді слова. | Learning is unto a wise man as an ornament of gold, and like a bracelet upon his right arm. |

| Наставляння для безумних — кайдани на ногах, і як ланцюги на правій руці. | A foolish man's foot is soon in his neighbour's house: but a man of experience is ashamed of him. |

| Нерозумний, сміючись, підносить голос свій, а муж розсудливий ледь тихо усміхнеться. | A fool will peep in at the door into the house: but he that is well nurtured will stand without. |

| Як золоте убрання — наставляння для розумного, і як коштовна прикраса на правій руці. | It is the rudeness of a man to hearken at the door: but a wise man will be grieved with the disgrace. |

| Нога нерозумного поспішає у чужий дім, але людина вельми досвідчена посоромиться людей; | The lips of talkers will be telling such things as pertain not unto them: but the words of such as have understanding are weighed in the balance. |

| нерозумний крізь двері заглядає у дім, а людина вихована зупиниться поза; | The heart of fools is in their mouth: but the mouth of the wise is in their heart. |

| невігластво людини — підслуховувати біля дверей, розсудливий же засмутиться такою безсоромністю. | When the ungodly curseth Satan, he curseth his own soul. |

| Вуста багатомовних розповідають чуже, а слова розсудливих зважуються на терезах. | A whisperer defileth his own soul, and is hated wheresoever he dwelleth. |

| У вустах нерозумних — серце їх, вуста ж мудрих — у серці їх. | |

| Коли нечестивий проклинає сатану, то проклинає свою душу. | |

| Навушник оскверняє свою душу, і його будуть ненавидіти скрізь, де тільки буде жити. |
