| Мудрий правитель навчить народ свій, і правління розумного буде благоупорядковане. | A wise judge will instruct his people; and the government of a prudent man is well ordered. |

| Який правитель народу, такі і службовці при ньому; і який начальник над містом, такі й усі, що живуть у ньому. | As the judge of the people is himself, so are his officers; and what manner of man the ruler of the city is, such are all they that dwell therein. |

| Цар ненавчений погубить народ свій, а при розсудливості сильних облаштується місто. | An unwise king destroyeth his people; but through the prudence of them which are in authority the city shall be inhabited. |

|
| У руках Господа влада над землею, і людину потрібну Він вчасно воздвигне на ній. | The power of the earth is in the hand of the Lord, and in due time he will set over it one that is profitable. |
|

|
| У руці Господа благоуспішність людини, і на лиці книжника Він закарбує славу Свою. | In the hand of God is the prosperity of man: and upon the person of the scribe shall he lay his honour. |
|

|
| Не гнівайся за всяку образу на ближнього, і нікого не ображай ділом. | Bear not hatred to thy neighbour for every wrong; and do nothing at all by injurious practices. |
|

|
| Гордість ненависна і Господу і людям, і злочинна проти обох. | Pride is hateful before God and man: and by both doth one commit iniquity. |
|

|
| Володарювання переходить від народу до народу через несправедливість, образи і користолюбство. | Because of unrighteous dealings, injuries, and riches got by deceit, the kingdom is translated from one people to another. |
|

|
| Чого гордиться земля і попіл? | Why is earth and ashes proud? There is not a more wicked thing than a covetous man: for such an one setteth his own soul to sale; because while he liveth he casteth away his bowels. |

|
| І за життя вивергаються нутрощі його. | The physician cutteth off a long disease: and he that is to day a king to morrow shall die. |
|

|
| Тривалу хворобу лікар нехтує: | For when a man is dead, he shall inherit creeping things, beasts, and worms. |
|

|
| і ось, нині цар, а завтра помирає. | The beginning of pride is when one departeth from God, and his heart is turned away from his Maker. |

|
| Коли ж людина помре, то спадщиною її стають плазуни, звірі і черва. | For pride is the beginning of sin, and he that hath it shall pour out abomination: and therefore the Lord brought upon them strange calamities, and overthrew them utterly. |
|

| Початок гордости — віддалення людини від Господа і відступ серця його від Творця його; | The Lord hath cast down the thrones of proud princes, and set up the meek in their stead. |
|

|
| бо початок гріха — гордість, і хто опанований нею, вивергає мерзоти; | The Lord hath plucked up the roots of the proud nations, and planted the lowly in their place. |
|

|
| і за це Господь посилає на нього страшні покарання й остаточно скидає його. | The Lord overthrew countries of the heathen, and destroyed them to the foundations of the earth. |
|

|
| Господь руйнує престоли володарів і посаджує лагідних на місце їх. | He took some of them away, and destroyed them, and hath made their memorial to cease from the earth. |
|

|
| Господь вириває з корінням народи і насаджує, замість них, смиренних. | Pride was not made for men, nor furious anger for them that are born of a woman. |
|

|
| Господь спустошує країни народів і руйнує їх до основ землі. | They that fear the Lord are a sure seed, and they that love him an honourable plant: they that regard not the law are a dishonourable seed; they that transgress the commandments are a deceivable seed. |
|

|
| Він висушує їх, і губить людей і знищує із землі пам’ять їх. | Among brethren he that is chief is honourable; so are they that fear the Lord in his eyes. |

| Гордість не створена для людей, ні лють гніву — для народжених жінками. | |
|

| Сім’я шановане яке? — Сім’я людське. Сім’я шановане яке? — Ті, що бояться Господа. | Whether he be rich, noble or poor, their glory is the fear of the Lord. |
|

| Сім’я безчесне яке? — Сім’я людське. Сім’я безчесне яке? — Ті, що переступають заповіді. | It is not meet to despise the poor man that hath understanding; neither is it convenient to magnify a sinful man. |
|

|
| Старший між братами — у повазі у них, так і ті, що бояться Господа, — в очах Його. | Great men, and judges, and potentates, shall be honoured; yet is there none of them greater than he that feareth the Lord. |
|

|
| Чи багатий хто і славний, чи бідний, похвала їх — страх Господній. | Unto the servant that is wise shall they that are free do service: and he that hath knowledge will not grudge when he is reformed. |

|
| Несправедливо — нечестити розумного бідного, і не слід прославляти чоловіка грішного. | Be not overwise in doing thy business; and boast not thyself in the time of thy distress. |
|

|
| Шановані вельможа, суддя і володар, але немає з них більшого за того, хто боїться Господа. | Better is he that laboureth, and aboundeth in all things, than he that boasteth himself, and wanteth bread. |
|

|
| Рабові мудрому будуть служити вільні, і розумна людина, будучи наставлювана ним, не буде нарікати. | My son, glorify thy soul in meekness, and give it honour according to the dignity thereof. |

| Не мудруй багато, щоб робити справу твою, і не хвалися у час нестатку. | Who will justify him that sinneth against his own soul? and who will honour him that dishonoureth his own life? |
|

|
| Краще той, хто трудиться і має в усьому статок, ніж той, хто без діла ходить і хвалиться, але має потребу у хлібі. | The poor man is honoured for his skill, and the rich man is honoured for his riches. |
|

|
| Сину мій! лагідністю прославляй душу твою і віддавай їй шану за її достоїнством. | He that is honoured in poverty, how much more in riches? and he that is dishonourable in riches, how much more in poverty? |
|

|
| Хто буде виправдовувати того, хто грішить проти душі своєї? І хто буде хвалити того, хто ганьбить життя своє? | |
|

|
|
| Бідного шанують за знання його, а багатого — за його багатство: | |
|
34
|
|
| шанований же у бідності наскільки більше буде шанований у багатстві? А безславний у багатстві наскільки буде безславніший у бідності? |
