| Блаженна людина, яка не згрішила вустами своїми і не вражена була сумом гріха. | Blessed is the man that hath not slipped with his mouth, and is not pricked with the multitude of sins. |

| Блаженний, кого не соромить душа його і хто не втратив надії своєї. | Blessed is he whose conscience hath not condemned him, and who is not fallen from his hope in the Lord. |

|
| Багатство не є добром для людини скупої. І нащо маєток людині недоброзичливій? | Riches are not comely for a niggard: and what should an envious man do with money? |

|
| Хто збирає, віднімаючи у душі своєї, той збирає для інших, і благами його будуть пересичуватися інші. | He that gathereth by defrauding his own soul gathereth for others that shall spend his goods riotously. |

|
| Хто злий для себе, для кого буде добрим? І не буде він мати радости від маєтку свого. | He that is evil to himself, to whom will he be good? he shall not take pleasure in his goods. |
|

|
| Немає гірше за людину, яка недоброзичлива до самої себе, і це — винагорода за злість її. | There is none worse than he that envieth himself; and this is a recompence of his wickedness. |

|
| Якщо вона і робить добро, то робить у безпам’ятстві, й опісля виявляє зло своє. | And if he doeth good, he doeth it unwillingly; and at the last he will declare his wickedness. |

|
| Злий, хто має заздрі очі, відвертає лице і нехтує душами. | The envious man hath a wicked eye; he turneth away his face, and despiseth men. |

|
| Очі користолюбця не насичуються якою-небудь частиною, і неправда злого висушує душу. | A covetous man's eye is not satisfied with his portion; and the iniquity of the wicked drieth up his soul. |

|
| Зле око заздре навіть на хліб і на столі своєму терпить убогість. | A wicked eye envieth his bread, and he is a niggard at his table. |

|
| Сину мій! за статком твоїм роби добро собі і приношення Господу достойно принось. | My son, according to thy ability do good to thyself, and give the Lord his due offering. |

| Пам’ятай, що смерть не бариться, і завіт пекла не відкритий тобі: | Remember that death will not be long in coming, and that the covenant of the grave is not shewed unto thee. |

|
| перше, ніж помреш, роби добро другові, і за силою твоєю простягай твою руку і давай йому. | Do good unto thy friend before thou die, and according to thy ability stretch out thy hand and give to him. |

|
| Не позбавляй себе доброго дня, і частина доброго бажання нехай не пройде повз тебе. | Defraud not thyself of the good day, and let not the part of a good desire overpass thee. |

|
| Чи не іншим залишиш ти надбання твої і плоди зусиль твоїх для розподілу за жеребом? | Shalt thou not leave thy travails unto another? and thy labours to be divided by lot? |

| Давай і приймай, і утішай душу твою, | Give, and take, and sanctify thy soul; for there is no seeking of dainties in the grave. |

| бо у пеклі не можна знайти утіх. | All flesh waxeth old as a garment: for the covenant from the beginning is, Thou shalt die the death. |

| Усяка плоть, як одяг, старіє; бо від віку — визначення: «смертю помреш». | As of the green leaves on a thick tree, some fall, and some grow: so is the generation of flesh and blood, one cometh to an end, and another is born. |

| Як зелені листки на густому дереві — одні спадають, а інші виростають: так і рід від плоті і крови — один помирає, а інший народжується. | Every work rotteth and consumeth away, and the worker thereof shall go withal. |

| Усяка річ, піддана тлінню, зникає, і той, хто зробив її, помирає з нею. | Blessed is the man that doth meditate good things in wisdom, and that reasoneth of holy things by his understanding. |

| Блаженна людина, яка вправляється у мудрості й у розумі своєму повчається святому. | He that considereth her ways in his heart shall also have understanding in her secrets. |
|

| Хто розмірковує у серці своєму про путі її, той отримає розуміння і у таємницях її. | Go after her as one that traceth, and lie in wait in her ways. |
|

| Виходь за нею, як ловець, і роби засідку на путях її. | He that prieth in at her windows shall also hearken at her doors. |
|

| Хто прихиляється до вікон її, той послухає і біля дверей її. | He that doth lodge near her house shall also fasten a pin in her walls. |
|

|
| Хто знаходиться поблизу дому її, той увіб’є цвях і в стінах її, поставить намет свій поряд з нею й оселиться в оселі благ. | He shall pitch his tent nigh unto her, and shall lodge in a lodging where good things are. |

| Він покладе дітей своїх під покрівлею і буде мати нічліг під сінню її. | He shall set his children under her shelter, and shall lodge under her branches. |
|

|
| Він прикриється нею від спеки і буде жити у славі її. | By her he shall be covered from heat, and in her glory shall he dwell. |
