| Тільки той, хто присвячує свою душу розмірковуванню про закон Всевишнього, буде шукати мудрости усіх древніх і вправлятися у пророцтвах: | will seek out the wisdom of all the ancients, and be occupied in prophecies. |

| він буде зважати на сказання мужів іменитих і заглиблюватися у тонкі звороти притч; | He will keep the sayings of the renowned men: and where subtil parables are, he will be there also. |

| буде досліджувати таємний зміст висловлювань і займатися загадками притч. | He will seek out the secrets of grave sentences, and be conversant in dark parables. |

|
| Він буде проходити служіння серед вельмож і являтися перед правителем; | He shall serve among great men, and appear before princes: he will travel through strange countries; for he hath tried the good and the evil among men. |

|
| буде подорожувати по землі чужих народів, бо випробував добре і зле між людьми. | He will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and will pray before the most High, and will open his mouth in prayer, and make supplication for his sins. |
|

|
| Серце своє він направить до того, щоб з раннього ранку звертатися до Господа, Який сотворив його, і буде молитися перед Всевишнім; відкриє у молитві вуста свої і буде молитися за гріхи свої. | When the great Lord will, he shall be filled with the spirit of understanding: he shall pour out wise sentences, and give thanks unto the Lord in his prayer. |

| Якщо Господу великому вгодно буде, він сповниться духом розуму, | He shall direct his counsel and knowledge, and on his secrets shall he meditate. |

|
| буде виточувати слова мудрости своєї і у молитві прославляти Господа; | He shall shew forth that which he hath learned, and shall glory in the law of the covenant of the Lord. |
|

|

|
| благоуправить свою волю і розум і буде розмірковувати про таємниці Господа; | Many shall commend his understanding; and so long as the world endureth, it shall not be blotted out; his memorial shall not depart away, and his name shall live from generation to generation. |
|

|
| він покаже мудрість свого навчання і буде хвалитися законом завіту Господнього. | Nations shall shew forth his wisdom, and the congregation shall declare his praise. |
|

|
| Багато хто буде прославляти знання його, і він не буде забутий повік; | If he die, he shall leave a greater name than a thousand: and if he live, he shall increase it. |
|

|

|
| пам’ять про нього не загине, й ім’я його буде жити у роди родів. | Yet have I more to say, which I have thought upon; for I am filled as the moon at the full. |

|
| Народи будуть прославляти його мудрість, і суспільство буде звіщати хвалу його; | Hearken unto me, ye holy children, and bud forth as a rose growing by the brook of the field: |

|
| доки буде жити, він придбає більшу славу, ніж тисячі; а коли спочиє, збільшить її. | and give ye a sweet savour as frankincense, and flourish as a lily, send forth a smell, and sing a song of praise, bless the Lord in all his works. |

|
| Ще подумавши, розповім, бо я повний, як місяць у повноті своїй. | Magnify his name, and shew forth his praise with the songs of your lips, and with harps, and in praising him ye shall say after this manner: |

|
| Вислухайте мене, благочестиві діти, і ростіть, як троянда, що росте на полі біля потоку; | All the works of the Lord are exceeding good, and whatsoever he commandeth shall be accomplished in due season. |

|
| виточуйте пахощі, як ливан; | For at time convenient they shall all be sought out: at his commandment the waters stood as an heap, and at the words of his mouth, the receptacles of waters. |
|

|
18
|
| цвітіть, як лілея, поширюйте пахощі і співайте пісню; | At his commandment is done whatsoever pleaseth him; and none can hinder, when he will save. |
|

|
| благословляйте Господа в усіх ділах; величайте ім’я Його і прославляйте Його хвалою Його, | The works of all flesh are before him, and nothing can be hid from his eyes. |
|
20
|
20
|
| піснями вуст і гуслями і, прославляючи, говоріть так: | He seeth from everlasting to everlasting; and there is nothing wonderful before him. |
|

|
21
|
| усі діла Господа дуже доброчинні, і всяке повеління Його у свій час сповниться; | A man need not to say, What is this? wherefore is that? for he hath made all things for their uses. |
|

|
| і не можна сказати: «що це? для чого це?», бо усе у свій час відкриється. | His blessing covered the dry land as a river, and watered it as a flood. |
|

|
| За словом Його стала вода, як стіг, і за словами вуст Його з’явилися вмістилища вод. | As he hath turned the waters into saltness: so shall the heathen inherit his wrath. |
|

|

|
| У повеліннях Його — усе Його благовоління, і ніхто не може применшити спасительність їх. | As his ways are plain unto the holy; so are they stumbling-blocks unto the wicked. |
|

|
25
|
| Перед Ним діла всякої плоті, і неможливо сховатися від очей Його. | For the good are good things created from the beginning: so evil things for sinners. |
|

|
| Він передбачає з віку у вік, і нічого немає дивного перед Ним. | The principal things for the whole use of man's life are water, fire, iron, and salt, flour of wheat, honey, milk, and the blood of the grape, and oil, and clothing. |
|

|
| Не можна сказати: «що це? для чого це?», бо усе створено для свого вжитку. | All these things are for good to the godly: so to the sinners they are turned into evil. |
|

|

|
| Благословення Його покриває, як ріка, і, як потоп, напуває сушу. | There be spirits that are created for vengeance, which in their fury lay on sore strokes; in the time of destruction they pour out their force, and appease the wrath of him that made them. |
|

|
| Але і гніву Його зазнають народи, як колись Він перетворив води на солончаки. | Fire, and hail, and famine, and death, all these were created for vengeance; |

|

|
| Путі Його для святих прямі, а для беззаконних вони — спотикання. | teeth of wild beasts, and scorpions, serpents, and the sword, punishing the wicked to destruction, |

|
| Від початку для добрих створене добре, як для грішників — зле. | shall rejoice in his commandment, and they shall be ready upon earth, when need is; and when their time is come, they shall not go beyond his word. |
|

|
| Головні з усіх потреб для життя людини — вода, вогонь, залізо, сіль, пшеничне борошно, мед, молоко, виноградний сік, олія й одяг: | Therefore from the beginning I was resolved, and thought upon these things, and have left them in writing. |
|

|
| усе це благочестивим служить на користь, а грішникам може обернутися на шкоду. | All the works of the Lord are good: and he will give every needful thing in due season. |
|

|
| Є вітри, які створені для помсти й у люті своїй посилюють удари свої, | So that a man cannot say, This is worse than that: for in time they shall all be well approved. |
|

|
35
|
| під час устремління свого виливають силу і задовольняють лють Творця їх. | And therefore praise ye the Lord with the whole heart and mouth, and bless the name of the Lord. |

|
| Вогонь і град, голод і смерть — усе це створено для помсти; | |
|
37
|
|
| зуби звірів, і скорпіони, і змії, і меч, який мститься нечестивим загибеллю, — | |
|
38
|
|
| зрадіють повелінню Його і готові будуть на землі, коли будуть потрібні, й у свій час не переступлять слова Його. | |
|
39
|
|
| Тому я від самого початку вирішив, обміркував і залишив у писанні, | |
|
40
|
|
| що усі діла Господа прекрасні, і Він дарує усе потрібне у свій час; | |
|
41
|
|
| і не можна сказати: «це гірше за те», бо усе у свій час визнане буде добрим. | |
|
42
|
|
| Отже, усім серцем і вустами оспівуйте і благословляйте ім’я Господа. |
