| Let them say so who have been redeemed by the Lord, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy; | Так нехай скажуть визволені Господом, яких Він визволив із руки ворога, |

| and gathered them out of the countries, from the east, and west, and north, and south. | і зібрав їх із усіх країв — зі сходу й заходу, з півночі і півдня. |

| They wandered in the wilderness in a dry land; they found no way to a city of habitation. | Блукали вони по пустелі безлюдними шляхами і не знаходили міста заселеного. |

| Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. | Голод і спрагу терпіли вони, знемагала в них душа їхня. |

| Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he delivered them out of their distresses. | Тоді взивали до Господа в скорботі своїй, і Він визволив їх із біди їхньої. |

| And he guided them into a straight path, that they might go to a city of habitation. | І привів їх прямою дорогою до міста заселеного. |
|

| Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men. | Нехай же прославляють Господа за милість Його і за дивні діла Його для синів людських, |

| For he satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, | бо Він наситив душу спраглу і душу голодну сповнив добром. |

|
| even them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, fettered in poverty and iron; | Вони сиділи в темряві і тіні смертній, сковані скорботою та залізом, |

| because they rebelled against the words of God, and provoked the counsel of the Most High. | бо не скорилися словам Божим і зневажали вони Всевишнього. |

| So their heart was brought low with troubles; they were weak, and there was no helper. | Він же смирив серця їхні стражданнями, вони падали, і не було кому допомогти їм. |

| Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses. | Тоді взивали вони до Господа в скорботі своїй, і Він визволив їх від бід їхніх, |

| And he brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds asunder. | вивів їх із темряви і тіні смертної і кайдани їх розірвав. |

| Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonders to the children of men. | Нехай же прославляють Господа за милість Його і дивні діла Його для синів людських: |

| For he broke to pieces the brazen gates, and crushed the iron bars. | бо розбив Він брами мідні і замки залізні зламав. |

| He helped them out of the way of their iniquity; for they were brought low because of their iniquities. | Непокірні страждали через беззаконне життя своє і за неправди свої терпіли. |
|

|
| Their soul abhorred all meat; and they drew near to the gates of death. | Душа їхня відверталася від усякої поживи, і наблизилися вони до воріт смерти. |

| Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses. | Тоді взивали вони до Господа в скорботі своїй, і Він визволив їх від бід їхніх, |

| He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them out of their destructions. | послав їм слово Своє і зцілив їх, і з могил їхніх вивів їх. |

| Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men. | Нехай же прославляють Господа за милість Його і за дивні діла Його для синів людських. |

| And let them offer to him the sacrifice of praise, and proclaim his works with exultation. | Нехай приносять Йому жертви хвали, і піснями радости нехай сповіщають про діла Його. |

| They that go down to the sea in ships, doing business in many waters; | Ті, що на кораблях плавають по морю і виконують роботу свою на водах великих, |

| these men have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. | вони бачать діла Господні і чудеса Його на глибині: |

| He speaks, and the stormy wind arises, and its waves are lifted up. | скаже Він — і здійметься буйний вітер, який високо підносить хвилі, — |

| They go up to the heavens, and go down to the depths; their soul melts because of troubles. | піднімає їх до неба, і опускає в безодню, і від страху мліє душа людей. |

|
| They are troubled, they stagger as a drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up. | Кружляють вони і хитаються, наче п’яні, — зникає вся мудрість їхня. |

| Then they cry to the Lord in their affliction, and he brings them out of their distresses. | Тоді взивають вони до Господа в скорботі своїй, і Він визволяє їх від біди. |

| And he commands the storm, and it is calmed into a gentle breeze, and its waves are still. | Він повелів бурі, і настала тиша, і хвилі затихли. |

|
| And they are glad, because they are quiet; and he guides them to their desired haven. | І радіють вони, що море втихло, а Він приводить їх до бажаної пристані. |

| Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men. | Нехай же прославляють Господа за милість Його і за дивні діла Його для синів людських. |

| Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders. | Нехай вихваляють Його в зібранні людей і прославляють Його на зборах старійшин. |

| He turns rivers into a desert, and streams of water into a dry land; | Він перетворює ріки на пустелю і джерела води на безводну землю, |

|
| a fruitful land into saltness, for the wickedness of them that dwell in it. | землю родючу на солончаки за беззаконня тих, що живуть в ній. |

|
| He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and a dry land into streams of water. | Він перетворює пустелю на озера, і землю засохлу — на джерела води. |

|
| And there he causes the hungry to dwell, and they establish for themselves cities of habitation. | І оселяє там голодних; вони будують міста — оселі собі, |

| And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, and they yield fruit of increase. | засівають поля, насаджують виноградники, що приносять їм великий урожай. |

|
| And he blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminishes not the number of their cattle. | Він благословляє їх, і вони швидко розмножуються, і тварин у них не зменшується. |

|
| Again they become few, and are brought low, by the pressure of evils and pain. | Вони занепадали від гноблення, біди і скорботи, |

|
| Contempt is poured upon their princes, and he causes them to wander in a desert and trackless land. | тоді Він посилав безчестя на князів їхніх і залишав їх блукати по пустелі, де немає шляхів. |

| But he helps the poor out of poverty, and makes him families as a flock. | Убогого Він спасав від біди і примножував рід його, як отари овець. |

|
| The upright shall see and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. | Бачать це праведники і радіють, а беззаконні замикають уста свої. |

|
| Who is wise, and will observe these things, and understand the mercies of the Lord? | Хто мудрий, той помітить це і зрозуміє милості Господні. |
