| Який милостивий Бог Ізраїлів до народу Свого, до чистих серцем! | A Psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to the upright in heart! |

| Мої ж мало не похитнулися ноги, мало не посковзнулися стопи мої. | But my feet were almost overthrown; my goings very nearly slipped. |

|
| Я позаздрив безумним, бачивши добробут беззаконних. | For I was jealous of the transgressors, beholding the tranquillity of sinners. |
|

|
| Бо нема їм страждання, й до смерти їхньої міцні сили їхні. | For there is no sign of reluctance in their death: and they have firmness under their affliction. |
|

|

|
| У трудах людських їх нема, і не знають вони людської біди. | They are not in the troubles of other men; and they shall not be scourged with other men. |
|

|

|
| Тому-то гордість підняла їхню пихатість, і, як в одежу, одягаються вони у неправду та нечестя свої. | Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness. |
|

|
| Пливе, наче олива, неправда їхня, живуть за похотями свого серця. | Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness: they have fulfilled their intention. |
|

|
| З усього глузують, зневажливо говорять про Бога, звисока розмовляють. | They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness: they have uttered unrighteousness loftily. |
|

|
| До небес підносять уста свої, і язик їхній обходить землю. | They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth. |
|

|
| Тому звертаються до них люди і п’ють їхню воду повною чашею, | Therefore shall my people return hither: and full days shall be found with them. |
|

|
| і кажуть: «Як довідається Бог? І чи знає Всевишній?» | And they said, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High? |
|

|

|
| І ось ці нечестивці завжди живуть у достатку і примножують багатство. | Behold, these are the sinners, and they that prosper always: they have possessed wealth. |
|

|
| [І я сказав: ] «Чи не даремно я дбаю про чистоту серця і в невинності умивав руки мої; | And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocency. |
|

|
14
|
| віддавав себе під удари щодня і щоранку себе осуджував?» | For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof was every morning. |
|

15
|
| Але коли б я сказав: «Буду і я так жити», то я став би зрадником перед родом синів Твоїх. | If I said, I will speak thus; behold, I should have broken covenant with the generation of thy children. |
|

|
| І я став думати, як би мені все це зрозуміти, але тяжким було це в очах моїх. | And I undertook to understand this, but it is too hard for me, |

|
| Аж поки не ввійшов я у святиню Божу та не зрозумів кінця їхнього. | until I go into the sanctuary of God; and so understand the latter end. |
|

|
| Дійсно, на слизькій дорозі поставив Ти їх, над прірвою стоять вони. | Surely thou hast appointed judgments to them because of their crafty dealings: thou hast cast them down when they were lifted up. |
|

|
| Як несподівано прийшли вони до занепаду! Щезли, погинули за беззаконня свої. | How have they become desolate! suddenly they have failed: they have perished because of their iniquity. |
|

|
| Як щезає сон того, хто прокинувся, так Ти, Господи, розбудивши їх, знищив помисли їхні у місті Твоїм. | As the dream of one awakening, O Lord, in thy city thou wilt despise their image. |
|

|
| Коли хвилювалося серце моє і боліла душа моя, | For my heart has rejoiced, and my reins have been gladdened. |
|

|

|
| я був нерозумним, я як тварина був перед Тобою. | But I was vile and knew not: I became brutish before thee. |
|

|
| Але я завжди з Тобою, Ти тримаєш мене за праву руку мою. | Yet I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand. |
|

|
| Ти порадою Твоєю провадиш мене, і до слави Твоєї Ти приймеш мене. | Thou hast guided me by thy counsel, and thou hast taken me to thyself with glory. |
|

|
| Хто бо для мене є на небі? І чого без Тебе бажати мені на землі? | For what have I in heaven but thee? and what have I desired upon the earth beside thee? |

|
| Знемагають серце моє і тіло моє за Тобою, Боже серця мого і доле моя, Боже, навіки. | My heart and my flesh have failed: but God is the strength of my heart, and God is my portion for ever. |
|

|
| Бо ось ті, що віддалили себе від Тебе, гинуть. Ти знищуєш кожного, хто відступає від Тебе. | For, behold, they that remove themselves far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed every one that goes a whoring from thee. |
|

|
| А мені найкраще прихилятися до Бога, покладати на Господа надію мою, сповіщати про всі діла Твої в Церкві Твоїй [у вратах дочки Сионової]. | But it is good for me to cleave close to God, to put my trust in the Lord; that I may proclaim all thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion. |
