| Слухайте, люди мої, закону мого, прихиліть вухо ваше до слів уст моїх. | A Psalm of instruction for Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth. |

|
| Відкрию в притчах уста мої і розкажу загадки віків давніх. | I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings which have been from the beginning. |
|

|
| Що ми чули і що взнали і що батьки наші розповідали нам, | All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us. |
|

|
| не втаїмо перед дітьми їх, сповіщаючи роду майбутньому славу Господню, силу й чудеса Його, які Він створив. | They were not hid from their children to a second generation; the fathers declaring the praises of the Lord, and his mighty acts, and his wonders which he wrought. |
|

|
| Він дав свідчення в Якові, поставив закон у Ізраїлі і наказав батькам нашим переказати його дітям їхнім, | And he raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children: |
|

|
| щоб знав рід майбутній — діти, що народяться, і щоб свого часу і вони сповістили дітям своїм. | that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children. |
|

|
7
|
| Щоб надію свою покладали на Бога, і не забували діл Божих та додержували заповідей Його. | That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek his commandments. |
|

|
8
|
| Щоб не були такі, як батьки їхні, рід непокірний і лукавий, рід непостійний у серці своїм та невірний Богові духом своїм. | That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God. |
|

|
| Сини Єфремові озброєні, що стріляли з лука, повернули назад у день битви. | The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting with the bow, turned back in the day of battle. |
|

|

|
| Вони не зберегли завіту Божого, в законі Його не захотіли ходити. | They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law. |
|

|
11
|
| Забули діла Його і чудеса Його, що Він показав їм. | And they forgot his benefits, and his miracles which he had shewed them; |
|

|
12
|
| Він перед очима батьків їхніх сотворив чуда в землі Єгипетській на полі Цоан. | the miracles which he wrought before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Tanes. |
|

|

|
| Він розділив море і перевів їх, поставивши воду стіною. | He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as in a bottle. |
|
14
|
14
|
| Вдень вів їх хмарою, а всю ніч — світлом вогню. | And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire. |
|

|
15
|
| Розсік камінь у пустелі і напоїв їх, наче з великої безодні. | He clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep. |
|

|
16
|
| Із скелі вивів потоки, і води потекли, як ріки. | And he brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers. |
|

17
|
| Вони ж не перестали грішити перед Ним та прогнівляти Всевишнього в пустелі. | And they sinned yet more against him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness. |
|

|
18
|
| Спокушали Бога в серці своїм, вимагаючи поживи душі своїй. | And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for the desire of their souls. |
|
19
|
19
|
| Говорили проти Бога й сказали: «Чи може нам Бог приготувати трапезу у пустелі? | They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness? |
|
20
|
20
|
| Ось Він ударив по каменю, і потекли води, й полилися потоки, чи може Він дати й хліба? Чи може приготувати й м’яса народу Своєму?» | Forasmuch as he smote the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will he be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for his people? |

| Почув це Господь, і запалав гнів Його, вогонь спалахнув на Якова. І гнів піднявся над Ізраїлем, | Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel. |

|
| за те, що не вірили Богу і не уповали на спасіння Його. | Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation. |
|

|
| Він наказав хмарам і відчинив двері неба. | Yet he commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, |
|
24
|
24
|
| Дощем послав їм манну на поживу, хліба небесного дав їм. | and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven. |
|
25
|
25
|
| Хлібом ангельським живилися люди, поживи послав їм до ситости. | Man ate angels' bread; he sent them provision to the full. |
|

|
| Він підняв у небі східний вітер і навів південний силою Своєю. | He removed the south wind from heaven; and by his might he brought in the south-west wind. |
|

|
27
|
| І, наче порох, сипав на них м’ясо — птахів крилатих, що сипалися на них, як пісок морський. | And he rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the seas. |
|

|
28
|
| Накидав їх серед табору їхнього біля наметів їхніх, | And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents. |
|
29
|
29
|
| і їли вони до переситу; те, чого бажали вони, дав їм. | So they ate, and were completely filled; and he gave them their desire. |
|
30
|
30
|
| Але, коли ще не вдовольнили бажання свого, коли ще їжа була на зубах їхніх, | They were not disappointed of their desire: but when their food was yet in their mouth, |

|

|
| гнів Божий прийшов на них і умертвив багатьох із них, і вибраних Ізраїля відкинув. | then the indignation of God rose up against them, and slew the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel. |
|

|
32
|
| Але й тоді вони не переставали грішити і не вірили чудесам Його. | In the midst of all this they sinned yet more, and believed not his miracles. |
|

|
33
|
| І минали дні їхні у марноті і роки їхні у тривозі. | And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years with anxiety. |
|

|
34
|
| Коли Він умертвляв їх, тоді вони шукали Його і навертались, і зранку благали Його. | When he slew them, they sought him: and they returned and called betimes upon God. |
|
35
|
35
|
| І пригадували, що Бог — пристановище їхнє і Бог Всевишній — Спаситель їхній. | And they remembered that God was their helper, and the most high God was their redeemer. |
|

|
36
|
| Вони ніби любили Його устами своїми і язиком своїм корилися Йому, | Yet they loved him only with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue. |
|

|
37
|
| але серце їх не було праведне перед Ним, і завіту Його вони не виконували. | For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. |
|
38
|
38
|
| Він же, милосердний, прощав гріхи їхні і не знищував їх. Багато разів Він одвертав гнів Свій і зупиняв обурення Своє. | But he is compassionate, and will forgive their sins, and will not destroy them: yea, he will frequently turn away his wrath, and will not kindle all his anger. |

| Він пам’ятав, що вони — тіло, вітер, що проходить і не повертається. | And he remembered that they are flesh; a wind that passes away, and returns not. |
|

|

|
| Скільки разів вони засмучували Його в пустелі і прогнівляли Його в краю безлюднім! | How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, and anger him in a dry land! |
|
41
|
41
|
| І знову спокушали Бога і ображали Святого Ізраїлевого, | Yea, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel. |
|
42
|
42
|
| не пам’ятали руки Його у день, коли Він визволив їх від гнобителя. | They remembered not his hand, the day in which he delivered them from the hand of the oppressor. |
|
43
|
43
|
| Коли явив їм знамення Свої в Єгипті і чуда Свої на полі Цоан. | How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Tanes: |

|
| Коли обернув ріки й потоки їх на кров, щоб не могли пити. | and had changed their rivers into blood; and their streams, that they should not drink. |
|
45
|
45
|
| Наслав на них мух, щоб жалили їх, і жаб, щоб гноїли їх. | He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them. |
|

|
46
|
| Віддав гусені врожаї їхні і ниви їхні сарані. | And he gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labours to the locust. |
|
47
|
47
|
| Побив градом виногради їхні і фигові дерева їхні ожеледдю. | He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost. |
|

|

|
| Великий град побив тварин їхніх, а отари овець попалила блискавка. | And he gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire. |
|

|
| Послав на них полум’я гніву Свого і кару люту через ангелів гніву. | He sent out against them the fury of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels. |
|
50
|
50
|
| Відкрив дорогу для гніву Свого і не охороняв від смерти душі їхні, а тварин їхніх віддав на загибель. | He made a way for his wrath; he spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death; |
|

51
|
| Уразив смертю кожного первістка в Єгипті, початки сили їхньої у наметах Хамових. | and smote every first-born in the land of Egypt; the first-fruits of their labours in the tents of Cham. |
|
52
|
52
|
| І підняв народ Свій, як овець, і повів його, як отару, по пустелі. | And he removed his people like sheep; he led them as a flock in the wilderness. |
|
53
|
53
|
| Провадив їх у надії і без страху, а ворогів їхніх покрило море. | And he guided them with hope, and they feared not: but the sea covered their enemies. |
|
54
|
54
|
| І привів їх до країни святої Своєї, на гору, що її обрала правиця Його. | And he brought them in to the mountain of his sanctuary, this mountain which his right hand had purchased. |
|
55
|
55
|
| Прогнав народи від лиця їх, землю розділив у володіння їм і покоління Ізраїля оселив у наметах їхніх. | And he cast out the nations from before them, and made them to inherit by a line of inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents. |
|
56
|
56
|
| Але вони ще спокушали і засмучували Бога Всевишнього, і повелінь Його не виконували. | Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies. |
|
57
|
57
|
| Відступали і зраджували, як і батьки їхні, ставали ненадійними, як лук зіпсований. | And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers: they became like a crooked bow. |
|
58
|
58
|
| Прогнівляли Його висотами своїми й ідолами своїми накликали гнів Його. | And they provoked him with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images. |
|
59
|
59
|
| Почув Бог, і запалав гнів Його на Ізраїля. | God heard and lightly regarded them, and greatly despised Israel. |
|
60
|
60
|
| Він відринув скинію Силоамську, оселю Свою, в якій оселився між людьми. | And he rejected the tabernacle of Selom, his tent where he dwelt among men. |
|
61
|
61
|
| І віддав у неволю силу їхню, і славу їхню — у руки ворогів. | And he gave their strength into captivity, and their beauty into the enemy's hand. |
|
62
|
62
|
| Віддав під меч народ Свій і розгнівався на насліддя Своє. | And he gave his people to the sword; and disdained his inheritance. |
|

|
63
|
| Юнаків їхніх попалив вогонь, і дівам їхнім ніхто не співав шлюбних пісень. | Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins mourned not. |
|
64
|
64
|
| Священики їхні загинули від меча, і вдовиці їх не оплаканими будуть. | Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows shall not be wept for. |
|
65
|
65
|
| Але встав, наче від сну, Господь, як силач, повалений вином. | So the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and as a mighty man who has been heated with wine. |
|

|
66
|
| І уразив у спину ворогів Своїх, на вічний сором віддав їх. | And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he brought on them a perpetual reproach. |
|
67
|
67
|
| Він відкинув оселі Йосифа і коліна Єфремового не обрав. | And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim; |
|
68
|
68
|
| А вибрав коліно Іуди — гору Сион, що її полюбив. | but chose the tribe of Juda, the mount Sion which he loved. |
|
69
|
69
|
| І збудував, наче небо, святиню Свою на землі, і утвердив її навіки. | And he built his sanctuary as the place of unicorns; he founded it for ever on the earth. |
|
70
|
70
|
| І обрав Давида, раба Свого, від отар овечих покликав його. | He chose David also his servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep. |
|

|
71
|
| Від доїння їх привів його пасти народ Свій — Якова, і насліддя Своє — Ізраїля. | He took him from following the ewes great with young, to be the shepherd of Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance. |
|
72
|
72
|
| І він пас їх у чистоті серця свого і руками мудрими водив їх. | So he tended them in the innocency of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands. |
